The Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Center (SKMCH & RC / SKMCH) is a cancer center located in Lahore and Peshawar, Pakistan.
It is the biggest and most advanced hospital in Pakistan that specializes in treating cancer. This hospital was the very first initiative of the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust, which is a charitable organization established under the British Indian Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860.
In Pakistan, the hospital was established by the current Prime Minister, Imran Khan, who is a former cricketer and now a politician.
The inspiration to create a cancer hospital stemmed from his mother, Ms. Shaukat Khanum, being diagnosed with cancer in 1985.
While caring for his mother, he witnessed the challenges faced by underprivileged cancer patients in Pakistani hospitals and recognized the urgent need for specialized cancer treatment. His dream was to provide accessible cancer treatment to all Pakistanis who required it.
